 Creole-Style Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo

Rich, flavorful, and full of New Orleans charm, this Creole-style gumbo brings the perfect balance of spices, shrimp, and sausage in every bite. It’s a comforting, hearty dish that’s perfect for cozy dinners or impressing guests!
Ingredients:
1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
4 cups chicken broth
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tbsp Creole seasoning
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp paprika
1 bay leaf
Salt & pepper to taste
Cooked rice, for serving
Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add flour and stir to make a roux. Cook, stirring often, until the roux turns golden brown (about 5-7 minutes).
Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic to the pot and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, Creole seasoning, thyme, paprika, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
Add the sausage and cook for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Add the shrimp and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the shrimp is cooked through.
